"IJDG Designers Challenge" necklace and
earrings set with lampwork art glass focal bead
I designed this necklace and
earrings as part of a Designers' Challenge for the International Jewelry
Designers Guild. Many of the beads and findings, including the focal
bead, were donated by generous members of the IJDG. Please go to http://www.p-pt.com/necklaces-torsades-chokers-jewelry/IJDG-challenge-necklace-earrings.htm
to view a large, detailed image of this set, including the collaged clasp
in back.
Several different jewelry-making
techniques were used, including collage, stringing, cagework (hand-wiring
beads to brass filigree), and hand-painting. Shades of
purple/lavender/alexandrite, rosaline/peach and coppers/browns are
accented by rare vintage Swarovski crystal chaton stones in Vitrail Light.
Metal filigrees and stampings combine several shades and finishes of brass
with rich copper. The incredible lampworked glass focal bead was fumed
with fine silver to create gorgeous iridescent "eyes".
The main strand from which the lower
swags and centerpiece hang is approximately 18-1/2" long. The earrings
are clip-backs, so they can be worn by those with pierced and non-pierced
ears alike.
This dramatic set will help you make
an impressive entrance this Fall!
